HathiTrust Research Center Seeks a Manager of Operations and Lead R&D Architect

The HathiTrust Research Center seeks a skilled senior systems engineer to serve as Operations Manager of the HathiTrust Research Center (HTRC) software and services, and assume a role as Lead R&D Architect in architecting the evolution of the system and services in response to community need and research and development efforts. The candidate is responsible for overseeing daily operations, system security, and ensuring stability, availability, reliability, and safety of the HathiTrust Research Center (HTRC) software and services. The candidate will be comfortable in both a research and operational setting, and possess technical vision and the ability to work with and through others to achieve the vision. He or she will lead technical and operational efforts, and be effective in resolving conflicts. The person will operate in a matrix reporting setting, reporting ultimately to an Executive Management team of HTRC, so will be a self-starter and highly independently motivated. The candidate should be fluent with web services development, scripting languages, data management technologies, and Web authentication and authorization technologies. The position is funded through 2018.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and three years of related experience in positions of increasing responsibility and leadership in a technical setting.
