HathiTrust will cease funding and data sharing with the HathiTrust Research Center (HTRC) at the end of 2026, at which time the Center will be formally closed.*
Announcement: HTRC Sunsetting Workshop
Ever since HTRC was founded in 2011 we’ve had the privilege of working with researchers, students, and librarians like yourself. To ensure that our community remains informed and supported during this transition, we offered a workshop in April, 2026, focused on the HTRC sunset process.
This workshop covered:
The timeline for the conclusion of HTRC services
Instructions for exporting worksets, algorithm results, and data capsule results prior to sunsetting
Alternative options for accessing HathiTrust data

Sunsetting Timeline
HathiTrust will cease funding and data sharing with the HathiTrust Research Center (HTRC) at the end of 2026, at which time the Center will be formally closed.
Users will still be able to search and use the HathiTrust Digital Library site, with reading and download access continuing as before for material in the public domain or licensed for open access.
Through September 30, 2026:
Your access to HTRC (http://analytics.hathitrust.org ) will continue normally
Your current research projects may continue without interruption
Our team will provide regular updates about the transition process, including tutorials for downloading and saving your worksets, algorithm results, and data capsule results.
After September 30, 2026:
Public-facing services no longer available:
Data Capsule services discontinued
No access to Analytics Algorithms
No more logins to Analytics Gateway; only static (informational) pages available
Services that will transition to HathiTrust and/or other host:
Access to HT + Bookworm will continue through University of Illinois.
Access to derived datasets
